We sailed all morning and part of the afternoon to reach the town of Pangnirtung which sits along a long fjord like Iqaluit. During the times at sea there were always many things going in the ship.  On this occasion there were two talks.  We had a resident photographer on board and a bird expert.  The first talk was on basic photography, the second on Arctic sea birds, which are always black and white we learned.

Our first port of call was the local Visitor's Centre.  We were reminded of the importance of whaling to the community, but not any more.

The Visitor's Centre
A harpoon gun
The skull of a bow head whale
A seal skin garment
The large hood is where you keep your baby
An Inuit carving
The old Hudson Bay Store

We also visited a print shop which made Cape Dorset prints and a craft store. The local people then put on a display for us.
The lady from the visitor centre showed how they lit a stove to cook on and provide light
